Where it falls short
- 3000W out of a 12V system is roughly 250 to 300 amps in. That is 4/0 cable territory over any real distance, with an appropriately rated fuse, and the cable is not a small part of the total cost.
- Your batteries and alternator become the limit long before the inverter does. Four group 31 batteries will not hold up a 3000W load for long.
- Most sleeper loads never approach 3000W. A microwave, a fridge and a laptop together are usually well under 2000W.
- Idle draw is real. Leaving any large inverter switched on overnight costs you amp hours for nothing.
- This is an inverter only, not an inverter charger. There is no shore power charging built in.
